Chemsultants International has addressed its need to safely increase its ability to work with solvent-based adhesives and coatings in its pilot coating production department. The company has announced that it has installed and completed EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) permitting of a regenerative thermal oxidizer (RTO) to accommodate two new narrow web coating lines. This new, commercial-scale unit operates using MACT (maximum achievable control technology) as required by the EPA. With this new capability, Chemsultants International is now positioned to offer full service pilot coating and contract manufacturing using solvent-based adhesive, coating and polymer technologies to its customer base in up to 24” coated widths. In addition to emulsion and 100 percent solids technology, the company can now offer expanded capacity for the development, scale-up and small scale manufacturing of solution-based coated products. One of the most widely accepted control technologies to insure the safe coating production of solvent-based products is the RTO. RTO systems such as the one installed by Chemsultants International are versatile and have recovery efficiency reaching up to 95 percent. Chemsultants International can now continue to service a number of niche markets that require the use of solvent-based adhesives, polymers and coating. “Our ability to develop and supply sufficient quantities of these solvent-based products for test marketing or initial commercialization is keeping in step with the continuing market demand for these products,” the company says. Chemsultants International is a leader in the research, development and testing of novel polymer-based products and technologies, and serves such markets as aerospace, medical, electronics, tape and label, pharmaceutical, and automotive. The company is headquartered in Mentor, OH, USA.
